YATESVILLE — Down one game to none in the best of three format, Colarusso’s Restaurant won the next two matches to capture the first half title and place in the Yatesville Bocce League finals. Colarusso’s defeated JetSurge Power Cleaning, the regular season first half champ, 4-12, 12-5 and 12-4. The restaurateurs are led by Guy DePascale Sr. with able assistance from Al DeAngelis, Roger Wall and Joe Zambetti Jr.
The second half playoffs also got underway with the Dyller Law Firm defeating Bassler Equipment 12- 7, Old Forge Chiropractic bested Blandina Apartments 12-10 and JetSurge Power Cleaning edged Atlas Realty 12-9. The Dyller Law Firm followed with another win this time over JetSurge Power Cleaning to set up a meeting with Old Forge Chiropractic for the right to play KWIK ‘N EZ Market for the second have title and a spot in the finals against Colaruuso’s Restaurant.
Tournament results
BBBZ, the team of Sonny Bonomo, Jim Blandina, Bob Barbacci and Joe Zambetti, won the tournament over 13 other teams in undefeated style. They defeated two previous champions on the way to the title. Coming second was the Anelli Bocce Club of Jessup. The Yatesville 4 with Paul Santarelli, Doc Campanella, Sal Alaimo and Jon Campanella finished third. Rounding out the top four was Pisano Fence Co.
The tournament brought in teams from all over Northeastern Pennsylvania as well as the Lehigh Valley and New Jersey.
The tournament becomes much more than just a game. It gives players to interact with other lovers of the game that they may only see at such events once or twice a year.
