Pittston Area’s Charles Salvo, playing for the West team, threw a touchdown to Dallas’ Mike Race in the annual UNICO All-Star game held on Thanksgiving morning at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium.
Salvo’s touchdown cut the East lead to 20-14. The East would go to win the game by that score. Wyoming Area’s Ryan McDonnell carried four times for nine yards and Tyler Saville carried four for 16. McDonnell also had four catches for 47 yards.
The West team was coached by Pittston Area’s Lon Hazlet.
November 1995
At the Wyoming Area Wrestling Tournament, both the Patriots and Warriors turned in strong performances.
Eight Pittston Area wrestlers won medals out of the 13 weight classes. The Patriots lost the team title to Central Dauphin. Winning first-place medals for Pittston Area were: Andy Healey (103), Josh Androscavage (130) and Ken Romanczuk (160).
Jack Distasio (112), Shawn Shearer (135) and Brian Romanczuk (171) each finished second.
November 1985
Several members of the Pittston Area football team were named first team All-Scholastic All-Stars after the Patriots finished an 8-3 season.
Tailback Ken Scalpi, defensive back John Baloga, kicker Lou Scarantino, guar John McHale, defensive end Pat Walker and linebacker John Wojcik.
November 1975
Pittston Area’s football team gained a share of the A Division championship in the Wyoming Valley Conference with a 33-6 win over Wyoming Area in the annual game on Thanksgiving.
Junior tailback Carmen LoPresto paced the Patriot attack with 110 yards on 20 carries as he went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. He finished with one touchdown.
Carl Semenza scored two Pittston Area touchdowns, while John Adonizio added another. Pittston Area center Dave Lynch recovered a touchdown in the end zone for the team’s final score.
Wyoming Area’s Mike Manganario hit Ron Rang for the team’s only score.
