After the Wyoming Area girls broke through for their first win of the season Jan. 27, it was a tough week in Wyoming Valley Conference swimming for Greater Pittston teams.
Both Wyoming Area teams lost twice while Pittston Area lost a close girls meet to Tunkhannock to fall back to the .500 level at 4-4.
Wyoming Area girls 103
Meyers 71
Sydni Johnson, Leah Moore and Mackenzie Pegg led the way Jan. 27 when the Lady Warriors went on the road for the meet between the conference’s last two winless teams and posted a convincing victory.
Johnson won two individual events and was part of two winning relays. Moore and Pegg each won two individual events and were on one relay win.
Madi Resciniti won diving.
Becca Dymond was part of both relay wins.
Tunkhannock girls 97
Pittston Area 88
Erin Senese won the 100-yard butterfly and Madi Osticco took the diving Wednesday, but visiting Tunkhannock won the other 10 events to pull out the WVC victory.
Pittston Area’s other meet for the week, at Berwick, was once again postponed because of weather. It has been moved to Feb. 16.

Mackenzie Pegg won the 50-yard freestyle for the Lady Warriors in 29.79 seconds in Tuesday’s road meet against the WVC’s only unbeaten girls team.
Pegg’s win was the only one for Wyoming Area, which got a pair of second-place individual finishes from Sydni Johnson.

First-place Wyoming Seminary won 10 of 11 events in its Tuesday home meet.
Austin Alder provided the Wyoming Area win with a time of 25.23 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Dallas girls 146, Wyoming Area 37
Defending WVC and District 2 Class 2A champion Dallas swept every event in Thursday’s road win.

Wyoming Area 26
The Mountaineers won every event Thursday to easily defeat the host Warriors.
The week ahead
Wyoming Area, which competed in the Ray Wills Invitational at Wyoming Valley West Saturday, has a combined boys-girls meet at home against Berwick Tuesday.
Pittston Area is home with Holy Redeemer Monday then at Lake-Lehman Wednesday.
