Ryan Lombardo and Josh McGilvary had pins Jan. 28 when Pittston Area broke through for its first victory of the season, a 39-36, non-league win over visiting Mountain View.
Lombardo had a 57-second pin at 126.
McGilvary’s pin late in the second-period at 160 gave the Patriots an insurmountable 33-18 lead because Jason DeBoard was set to pick up a forfeit at 170 and the Eagles had just three wrestlers remaining.
The Patriots won three of the four bouts wrestled in a match marked by both teams’ inability to fill weight classes.
Mountain View got 30 of its 36 points by picking up five forfeits. Pittston Area gained four forfeits. There was one no contest.
John Martinez won a decision at 145.
Pittston Area, which went 0-6 to finish last among seven Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 teams, had lost its first 13 matches of the season overall.

Wyoming Area closed out the WVC Division 2 portion of its schedule Jan. 28 with a home loss to repeat division champion Meyers.
The Warriors finished 1-4 to place fifth in the six-team division.
Charlie Banashefski (145) and Adam Buczynski (195) had pins for Wyoming Area. Jaryn Polit-Moran (182) and Damon Barhight (285) won decisions.

Pittston Area has a non-league match Monday at North Schuylkill.
Wyoming Area has two matches this week – at Mountain View Tuesday, then home against Wyoming Valley West Wednesday.
